Session Outline

We offer sessions for two to five-year-olds who attend our affiliated nurseries and pre-schools.

Children take part in Forest School once a week for six-week blocks, with each session lasting two hours. To begin with, children take part in a shorter session to help them become familiar with the environment.

They progress to full sessions, where they learn the Forest School rules and boundaries and widen their experiences.

Your nursery will inform you what day and time your child will be going to Forest School.

This routine is intended as a guideline only and may be adjusted due to weather conditions or to maintain children’s interest and engagement. Forest School sessions follow a child-led ethos, encouraging children to explore, initiate play, test ideas, and develop curiosity, which means activities may naturally take different directions.

Staff will support and facilitate this safely, helping children to manage appropriate risks, and any changes to planned activities will be fully explained in the session evaluation.

In the unlikely event that weather conditions are deemed unsafe (such as high winds, thunder, lightning, or snow), an alternative venue will be used. Safety remains our highest priority at all times.
